Atomic Quilting class

The sketch-like lines common in textiles and graphic design of the 1950s lend themselves readily to this fun, easy style of free-motion quilting.

Students will learn to break down mid-century modern motifs into their component “atoms” to simplify quilting and minimize marking. While getting a feel for the technique, students will work on samples that can be turned into potholders or a runner. Ideas for incorporating hand stitching will also be demonstrated. Full-day classes with more advanced students will explore converting inspiration designs into quilting motifs.
